Make Up Starter Kit

Hi guys,

I have decided to pre-write some of my blog posts at the moment as I don’t have much time to sit down and write one every few days so as I’m sat in bed, I’m writing many blog posts tonight! So be prepared for many blog posts coming your way!

Today I thought that it would be a good idea to do a make up starter kit blog post, as this is a great post for all you out there who are wanting to start out with make up but don’t know what make up is the best to begin with!  All of the makeup products will be drugstore so they are affordable for you! I hope you enjoy!

So the make up bag that I decided to put in this post is actually my travel makeup bag, and I adore it as it’s a great size that fits in loads of makeup and it’s the ‘Zoella Beauty’ makeup bag. Mine is the “Just Say Yes’ version but there are 2 more.  This makeup bag is great as it fits in more makeup that it looks like it could, it’s good quality and it is a lovely design.  The perfect size for starting out on make up! It’s £7/£8 so totally affordable!

The primer I am suggesting to you is the Maybelline Baby Skin Primer, now being totally honest, I’ve never tried another drugstore primer because my holy grail primer is the Benefit ‘The Porefessional’ but as that is a high end primer, I realised that I needed to include a drugstore primer and as I had tried the baby skin primer, I decided to include that.  This primer is transparent, and it feels quite greasy but it’s not, I thought it was so I hated it for months but I bought it in superdrug the other day as I’m willing to give it another go! It’s really inexpensive around £7 ish so for a good primer, this is a great price!

For BB cream, I use the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. This is a lovely BB cream as it has a good amount of coverage and it is a lovely consistency and blends into your skin really nicely.  A great thing about it is that it has SPF 15 so it’s perfect for summer!

I like to use the Real Techniques Buffing Brush to blend the BB cream in as it’s a really good brush to get ‘buff’ the makeup in.

The foundation I love from the drugstore is the ‘Rimmel Wake Me Up’, this foundation is perfect for making you look more awake and ready for the day. It’s totally inexpensive and a great coverage foundation for making you look awake and bright!

I use the Real Techniques Foundation Brush to apply this and just like the BB Cream, for foundation I like to use the Real Techniques buffing brush too as it really helps to give a flawless finish to your foundation.

For concealer, the Collection ‘Lasting Perfection’ Concealer, this is just wow! The coverage on this is amazing, you pop it over a blemish as it’s gone, it’s like magic! For somewhere around £3.75 is a no brainer!

I use the Real Technique Contour Brush for this as I find that it is really good to get into the nooks and crannies of your face, around your nose and eyes. It has a perfect slightly pointed tip which is very good for precision.

For powder, The Rimmer ‘Stay Matte’ powder which is really good at toning down and getting rid of any shine coming from your face, also it does give a good bit of coverage of you get a coloured powder! It’s so cheap and you would be surprised that it is a drugstore powder and not high end!

For applying my powder I use the Real Techniques Powder Brush as it’s a great size to quickly apply powder to all of your face.

The bronzer that everyone rages about is the Bourjous chocolate bronzer and I don’t blame people for raging about it as it’s really good and subtle but works wonders! Bourjois is a little bit more expensive than most drugstore brands but it is still totally affordable and amazing!

To apply my bronzer I use the Real Techniques Contour Brush as it’s a perfect size to fit under your cheek bones and that is exactly what the brush is made for. Then I usually like to use my Real Techniques buffing brush as I want to make sure that the bronzer doesn’t stand out on my face so buffing it in just makes it more subtle.

For blusher, the one I recommend is ‘MUA Mosaic Blusher’. You’ve probably heard of this because at one point everybody raved about it, and I totally understand why! It has so many different pink and purple colours that work so lovely together and compliment so many skin tones! It’s not expensive as it’s only £2.50 and it lasts for such a long time, I love it!

I like to apply my blusher with the Real Techniques Blush Brush, this is the perfect shape to cover the apples of your cheeks with the right amount of blusher

For a mascara, there is a few that I swear by from the drugstore, but recently I had heard so many good reviews about the Loreal Miss Manga and it has lived up to the great reviews, I LOVE IT! It’s pretty much an all-in-one mascara which is the best! It lengthens, curls and volumises your lashes all in one! It is only £8.99 in boots so a no brainer!

For eyeshadow, I think getting a pallet is a great idea to start off with because there are so many colours you can play around with and test out, so for this I think that the MUA ‘Undress me too’ pallet and this is only £4 which is amazing for so many good eyeshadows and it’s a great dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Pallets and they are so much more expensive!

To apply my eyeshadow I love to use the Real Techniques shading brush as it’s a great size to apply eyeshadow all over your eyelid and it blends eyeshadows really well.

As for eyebrows, it depends on how dark your eyebrows are, how thick they are and the shape of them but I like to use the Soap and Glory ‘Archery which works very well for me and my awkward so shape eyebrows! I do find that this is quite pricey for an eyebrow product but it is amazing. It’s £10 so as I said, so its not cheap for a drugstore product but does great job at making your eyebrows look lovely.

Last of all, lipstick. Lipstick is my favourite part of makeup, it just completes a look. So, I think that the MUA lipsticks are great, they are £1. Yes, you read right, just £1, I still can’t get over the price! They do a wide range of lipsticks, matte and normal. They do a wide range of colours and I can’t pick an exact one as they are all lovely!

Thank you so much for reading this blog post, I hope it was helpful and interesting for you if you want to start out with makeup or if you aren’t new to make up but want to find some other products that you haven’t used before!

See you soon!

Lots of love
